Concerts from 23 bands, Tickets are £5 and children under 16 are free, available from Jenny Roberts of The Great Oaks Hospice on 01594 811910. 12-15 July 2nd International Historic Brass Symposium - Repertoire, Performance, Culture - New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. The largest and most important gathering of Early Brass Scholars, Performers, and Enthusiasts 12 July Harrogate Band - Harlow Carr Gardens, RHS Harlow Carr, Crag Lane, Harrogate, HG3 1UE, 6pm 14 July Durham Miners Gala - Durham City Centre, the Old Racecourse and villages around Durham. Marches, hymns and set piece entertainments outside the County Hotel. Over 50 brass bands and other ensembles to entertain the various mining lodges and the general public. 15 July Kiveton Park Brass Band Festival - Kiveton Park Community Woodland. The contest is open to all 3rd / 4th Section, Youth and Ungraded bands and the format is an entertainment programme lasting not more than 20 minutes which must include a hymn and a march. There is no requirement for a stand up soloist but there is a trophy to be won for the best one. Contest entry will be limited to twelve bands and will be pre-drawn to allow bands to plan their day. Contest will commence at 11 a.m. and bands will play in a marquee with open sides situated in a natural amphitheatre . Adjudication will be open. 19 July Harrogate Band - Harlow Carr Gardens, RHS Harlow Carr, Crag Lane, Harrogate, HG3 1UE, 6pm 21 July Pershore Midsummer Brass - Pershore, Worcestershire, 10am-10pm. All day non-competitive brass festival with local and championship bands. 40 performances from over 20 bands in four contrasting venues: Pershore Abbey, the Baptist Church, Chapman Court, and in the garden of the Angel Inn. A spectacular setting for a contest in the natural amphitheatre by the Hardraw Force waterfall.
