Northallerton Silver Band
The Northallerton Volunteer Band on one of the very many carnivals that the town have had over the years. The band marching in front of the banners and going through the High Street in 1910. Cobbles to the right and the young men with their flat caps following the parade.
This photo of Northallerton Town Band was taken around 1913. Notice the young girl sat in the middle with a very small Snare Drum. Flat caps and Bowlers seemed to be the order of the day as well as the waistcoats. We think this photo may have been taken at a Gala but we are not sure. The tents in the background seem to indicate that it was a big event
The photo to the right shows the band at the local Northallerton Carnival with a very important looking chap stood behind the Bass Drum. Again we are not sure of the date but we think it could be around 1914.
The photo to the left shows the Northallerton Town silver Prize Band back in 1930 the uniform had hardly changed since 1910. Smart jackets and hats as a change from the photo above though. Have a look at the Cornet player/conductor in the middle with the different uniform.
Northallerton Town Silver Prize Band in 1937 The words on the Bass drum read; Northallerton Town Silver Prize Band. We are not sure of the location. Could it be a contest?.
